Family Session

Location: Together, we can decide the best location for you session. We can shoot in your home as long as it has adequate natural light. I have many locations that I love to shoot at regularly but I am always open to new locations as well. You should choose a location that fits your style and personalty. I can help you along with this decision. Please check my location guide on my website.

Time: If we are shooting in your home, I prefer late morning, because that is when homes are usually lit up the best. If we are shooting outdoors we will shoot either in the morning or in the evening. The light is typically too harsh mid day. If your children are up for it, shooting one to two hours before sunset provides gorgeous light and atmosphere.  The images in my portfolio look the way they do largely because of my use of light and the time of day your session takes place has a huge impact.  Many families tell me that they simply have the kids take a late nap or have some down time prior to their evening session.

Length Of Session: The good news is, I am super fast!  My family portrait sessions rarely last more than an hour.  Don't worry, I can easily get a diverse and adequate gallery in that time.  Please note, if you have scheduled an extended family session, your session will be longer then an hour. I like to keep those session around 90 mins. Contact me about more info for your extended family session.

What To Wear: Wardrobe should be comfortable and reflect who you are. I do not recommend matching but rather coordinating. I am happy to consult you directly on wardrobe or recommend a personal stylist if you are interested.  Just let me know.

Your Children: Remember that children are not usually fond of being told to pose or smile. It is best if we just give the children time to relax and try to capture their natural self. Don't worry if your child is running about and active. To get the family shots, I usually direct the adults to simply "be" with the child, or hold the child and we go from there.

To get the most out of your session, make sure that your little one has rested and has had adequate snacks and water. We can take breaks for snacks and play, however I will probably still shoot during the breaks. Bring dry, non messy snacks so their little faces stay clean during the session.

Prepare the child for the session by letting them know that a friend will be taking some photos of them, it's best not to surprise them.

Please arrive on time or be ready to start on time: Remember, your session is scheduled according to light.  It is important that we start on time.  Please plan for traffic or parking constraints.  It's best to arrive early.

I can't wait to capture your family!  Do not hesitate to ask me any questions you have.

Maternity and Newborn

Congrats to you and your family! This is such a busy and exciting time. My goal is to make these sessions fun and stress free!

The best time for maternity photos is really when you are still feeling comfortable, and in most cases that is around 26-34 weeks. This is when your baby bump is nice and round and fully showing. You don't want to schedule it too close to your due date as you may start to get uncomfortable. Your maternity session includes you and your immediate family members. This session is an hour long and includes up to two outfit changes. After you have your little one and you get home, I recommend someone send me an email and from there we can schedule your newborn session. The best time is around when your baby is 9-14 days. Just to note, it is ok, if we meet after 14 days.

What To Wear for your maternity session: Wardrobe should be comfortable and reflect who you are. For the mother to be,  I usually recommend two outfits. For example, one could be a long flowy dress. These are great for movement! The other outfit could be something a little more casual, like a fitted top with jeans and maybe a jacket. Think about the fit, try your outfit on before your session. How does it move? Are you able to sit down comfortably in it? My last tip is to keep it simple. Whites, creams and soft muted colors work well, as floral patterns are amazing choices. Contact me anytime, with any questions about your outfits.

Location: Together, we will decide on the best location for your photos. For the newborn session, we can shoot in your home as long as your home has adequate natural light. For example, we can shoot in your bedroom and then move to the nursery. For your maternity session,  I have many locations that I love to shoot at regularly but I am always open to new locations as well. You should choose a location that fits your style and personality. I can help you along with this decision. Please check my location guide on my website.

Time: If we are shooting in your home, I prefer late morning, because that is when homes are usually lit up the best. I will work around your schedule. If you feel better about meeting in the morning, that is fine too!  If we are shooting outdoors we will shoot either in the early morning or in the evening which would be around an hour to an hour and a half before the sunsets. The light is typically too harsh mid day  The images in my portfolio look the way they do largely because of my use of light and the time of day your session takes place has a huge impact.

Length of session: Your maternity session will take about 60-75 mins, and it could be longer if you need to change outfits. For you newborn session, I would plan for up to two hours.

Loudoun county has a wealth of beautiful location for your session but if you are looking for something out of Loudoun, I can help you with that at well. Just to note, some locations do have a permit fee and may require time to book. I have included some of my favorite locations in my guide but I am always up to something not listed, just let me know and I will make it happen.

Time of the day: If we are shooting outdoors we will shoot either in the early morning or in the evening/afternoon. It really depends on the location we pick for your photos. My favorite time to photograph would be around 90-60 mins till sunsets. If we are shooting early in the morning, I like to photograph around sunrise, which I know is early but totally worth it!   If you are looking for an indoor location, contact me to talk about details.

Length Of Session:   My couple portrait sessions rarely last more than an hour and includes your surprise engagement.  After she or he says YES, that's when we will have our couple photo session at your location. Additional locations and times can be added on for extra cost.

What to wear: When thinking of what outfits to wear for your session, make sure you pick something that reflexes your personalty. Also, make sure you are both comfortable in what ever outfit you pick. There are no wrong answers here...have fun and don't stress about it! I am also here every step of the way with any questions. Senior Session

I am so excited to photograph your senior before they graduate. This is such a special time for all of you! I will work with you and your senior to make sure we capture amazing images for you and your family to enjoy for generations to come!

Time: Your senior session is for up to two hours at one location within Loudoun. This includes the time to change outfits and fix hair, etc. I like to tell my seniors to bring up to three outfits. Please note, some location do not have bathrooms to change in.

Location: We are so lucky to live near such beautifully location within Loudoun County. If you are looking for a more urban or a romantic vibe, I will help you find the perfect spot. Please check out my location guide. If you are looking for a location outside of Loudoun, like downtown, Washington DC,  please let me know. Just to note some locations require a permit fee to shoot at and may require time to book.

What to wear:  Wear what makes you feel comfortable and showcases your personalty. From long dresses to your sports team outfit. Bring what you like to wear and make you feel like a rock star! Please check out my what to wear guide to help you pick out the perfect outfits. Contact me at anytime with any questions you have.

Parents: I know what a special time this is for you and your senior. I love, love getting at least one or two images with parents and their senior. You are welcome to stay for the session and sneak in for that photo at the end.

When to book: My recommendation is to book at the end of their junior year and/or the beginning of their senior year in the Fall.  I know sometimes that is not possible and that is ok. I will work with you to fit in their session with their busy schedule. If you are looking for two different seasons for your senior session like, a summer and fall session we can book two different one hour sessions. This also works out great if you need to get those senior announcements out early but you are also waiting on the cap and gown from your school in the spring. Best part of that, is you get two different seasons with your senior! Contact me for more info on how to book that!

Congrats to your senior!!
